Welcome to Vera Kong Counselling

Life’s challenges - whether they arise from chronic stress, anxiety, burn-out, major transitions, or past traumas - can leave us feeling unmoored. As a counsellor and psychotherapist I am here to listen and offer a compassionate and collaborative space where you can explore what’s holding you back and take steps toward meaningful change or simply talk about certain unaddressed or unspoken areas of your life that could benefit from attention.

I provide relational counselling with a focus on the alignment of our bodily, emotional and thought-based ways of being. What does this mean in practice? It means that, without us being aware, some experiences can create a deep-seated imprint on our psyche. It is therefore my belief that therapy which pays attention to all three spheres can substantially support us in moving forward and foster resilience, inner and outer connectedness, as well as empower higher levels of life harmony.

I am a BACP and UKCP accredited, Integrative Counsellor and fully certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapist. This means that I am trained in a range of different counselling models, which helps me attune and adapt to the individual styles and issues at hand with more flexibility.

My practice follows humanistic philosophies and is trauma-informed. In my role as counsellor, I do not tend to take an 'expert' stance and instead hold the belief that most human beings are naturally oriented towards growth. In this vein, therapy, can be seen as a co-operative process in which we can explore, untangle, and resolve life blocks or constricting patterns together.

Why Consider Counselling?

Most of us may face uprooting life challenges at some point. Some of us may feel stuck, disconnected, anxious, burnt-out, or simply wish to explore relationship patterns. In other situations, we may want to process trauma and past wounds to move forward with new ways of coping.

Counselling has undergone a renaissance and is no longer just about being assessed and analysed by a person that is deemed to be 'in the know'. Instead, therapy has become a more cooperative and relationship-driven process that can be an instrumental part of what we could consider 'self care'. I'd like to think that therapy can support us in our journeys, empower us, and foster personal change in a space that provides open-minded and compassionate support.
